Hi.
At Corklands we think about and carry out unforgettable events and experiences in the cork oak territories (known as "montado") of Portugal. Cork oak and holm oak forests form the basis of one of the world's 36 most important ecosystems for biodiversity conservation, comparable to the Amazon, the African savannah or Borneo. Motorized events, cycling, walking and ballooning are activities that you can experience in this territory.
Accept our invitation and set out to discover: driving, cycling, walking or flying aboard a hot air balloon, explore stunning landscapes, conquer new horizons and admire the simplicity of a unique and special territory.
Cork oak and holm oak forests: a territory of experiences waiting to be discovered... by you. Accept the challenge!
"Montado" are part of one of 36 biodiversity hotspots around the world, with widely recognized protection status. In addition to contributing to climate regulation, it is an essential pillar for sustainable development and plays a vital role in global ecological balance.
The "cork landscapes" are formed by Quercus Suber, a species native to the Mediterranean basin. Around half of the global cork oak area is concentrated in the Iberian Peninsula, especially in the southwest, with a significant presence in North Africa. The remainder is distributed across the south of France, the west coast of Italy, and the islands of Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily.
