THE ROUTE​

The experience combines hiking, landscape interpretation, nature, local flavors, and cultural heritage. Throughout a morning, participants are invited to explore different dimensions of the territory on a circular route of approximately 9 kilometers, starting and ending in the Patudos Dam area.

 

The hike, of easy difficulty, is mainly on accessible terrain and will allow participants to discover some of Alpiarça's most characteristic natural spaces, through a route designed not only for walking but also for observing and understanding the landscape.

 

Three interpretive stops are planned along the route: at the Patudos Reservoir, the Sorraia Horse Nature Reserve, and the Alpiarça Peat Bog. At each of these locations, a brief contextualization of the surrounding area, its natural values, and its relationship with the territory will be provided. These will be short moments of interpretation, integrated into the route itself, allowing participants to better understand the different environments they traverse.

 

The Patudos Reservoir will mark the initial contact with one of Alpiarça's most emblematic landscapes, while passing through the Sorraia Horse Nature Reserve will allow visitors to explore the importance of preserving this native equine breed and its connection to the region.

 

Further on, the Alpiarça Peat Bog will reveal a lesser-known natural reality, associated with wetlands and the ecological importance of these spaces.

 

After about two hours of walking, the route ends at the Alpiarça Shop at Quinta da Lagoalva de Cima, where there will be an opportunity to take a break and discover some of the products associated with local production through a small tasting of regional products.

 

The experience does not end, however, upon arrival. The program continues with a visit to the Casa dos Patudos - Alpiarça Museum, one of the most important heritage spaces in the municipality. The visit will complement the discovery of the natural territory with a historical, artistic and cultural dimension, allowing visitors to learn about a heritage intimately linked to the identity of Alpiarça.

 

Designed for a maximum of 50 participants, the event aims to provide a different way to get to know the municipality: walking through its landscape, discovering its natural values, engaging with local production, and delving into its history through its heritage. Starting at 9 am and scheduled to end at 1 pm, it will be a morning dedicated to discovering Alpiarça through an experience that combines nature, hiking, interpretation, gastronomy, and culture, in a route that seeks to show that getting to know a territory is also about learning to appreciate what makes it unique.
