THE ROUTE A walk of approximately 10km discovering Chamusca, in a territory where the Ribatejo landscape reveals some of its most striking contrasts.

Starting in the center of the village, the route takes participants on a journey between the urban environment, the vastness of the heathland, and the proximity of the banks of the Tagus River, crossing different landscapes and ways of relating to the territory. Along the way, Chamusca reveals itself through its streets, its heritage, and the spaces that bear witness to the identity of a village deeply marked by its connection to the land and the river.

From the urban center, the walk progressively opens up to the surrounding landscape, where wide horizons and rural paths help to understand the dimension and diversity of this Ribatejo municipality. The heathland, with its characteristic landscape and more tranquil environment, constitutes one of the faces of this route. It is a vast territory where nature and human presence have, over time, built a unique landscape, marked by agricultural practices and adaptation to the characteristics of the soil and climate.

But the walk is also an approach to the Tagus River, a fundamental element for understanding the history and identity of Chamusca. The river and the floodplain introduce a new dimension to the landscape, creating a contrast with the higher terrains of the heathland and offering a different perspective on the Ribatejo region.
